The Compute Module 3 I/O Development Board (CMIO V3) is suitable for the development of Compute Module 3 or Compute Module 3 Lite. The IO Board features an SD card socket to support the Compute Module Lite 3 variant and breaks out the compute modules I/O's to various ports and 120 x standard pitch 0.1" headers.

To start the development, plug the Compute Module 3 or Compute Module 3 Lite into the IO Board, and power the development board using a micro USB 5V 2.5A Raspberry Pi Power Supply. The development board contains all of the necessary interface ports to allow an engineer to design and test their own prototype application. The modules simplify the design process engineers need to undertake when developing a System on Module (SoM) solution into their final product. Engineers do not need to concern themselves with the complexities of interfacing with the BCM2837 processer directly and instead can concentrate on designing the interfaces to their own IO board and their application software . This simplicity fosters rapid development.

How does it work?

Once you have finished using your Raspberry  Pi, you just shutdown using the sudo halt command, and then a couple of  minutes after the full and safe shutdown the Pi Supply Switch cuts the  power to the computer. From this point, once again, all you would need  to do to restore power to the Pi is touch the on button.

There is  also a hard power off button for use in emergencies which immediately  cuts the power to your Raspberry Pi. Remember to only use this button  when absolutely necessary (e.g. Pi has been frozen for a long time) as  it risks corruption of the files on your SD card if done at the wrong  moment.

What makes the Pi Supply Switch superior to other  makeshift solutions available is that it allows you to restart the  Raspberry Pi using the sudo reboot command without the power turning  itself off. Perfect!

Putting it together

We have made  the Pi Supply Switch a self-solder kit which is quick and simple to put  together ? even for an absolute beginner to electronics. This means as  well as being a nifty little bit of kit to manage your Pi?s power, it is  also a great intro to electronics and soldering. As you can see from  the pictures the input and output of the switch is fed by a standard USB  connection. We even provide you with the USB cable. Once soldered  together, is essentially ?plug-and-play? with your existing ?wall wart?  power supply unit. We have even packaged the circuit into a small  profile so that it fits neatly into your workstation. The Pi Supply  Switch is an essential piece of kit for all Raspberry Pi users!

The RasPiBox Open Prototyping Din Rail Raspberry Pi case is a DIN rail mountable enclosure with embedded prototyping plate designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi! The unit includes an internally mountable protoyping plate within the enclosure.

The prototyping area is ultra flexible -  half of which is for THT parts and half of which is for SMD parts so you can wire up DIP chips, relays, and the like. Along the edges of the proto area, all the GPIO/I2C/SPI and power pins are connected and marked. You can connect your work via terminals with the world ouside the enclosure and the whole unit is DIN compatble and designed to fit within a control cabinet!

This kit also includes parts for a 5V/1.7A voltage regulator.
