With Maker UNO, the problem is solved! Not only do the onboard LEDs work as outputs, they can also act as indicators, clearly showing what's happening on that pin. When the pin is used as input, you can clearly see whether the signal is received by just looking at changes on the LEDs. 

Additional features:

One of the brilliant features of the official Arduino Uno is the label printed on its pin headers. It saves us a lot of time when we want to connect the I/O pins to the external circuit. So, we include a set of these label stickers for pin headers in each of the Maker UNO! (Please note that you need to peel off the stickers and stick them on your Maker UNO by yourself)



Students always get their boards mixed up. With Maker UNO, you can write your name on the board. Problem solved!



Maker UNO uses the common Micro USB cable which is basically everywhere.



Don't throw your box away! There is a small opening on the box for you to plug the USB cable so that you can keep your Maker UNO safely in the original box, no additional casing required.



Maker UNO is fully compatible with Arduino. You can share the same library and code. We put in 12x LEDs, 1x piezo buzzer and 1x programmable button on the Maker UNO. We have removed the DC jack power input socket as most of the boards used in classes are powered using USB. We have also replaced the ATmega16u2 with CH340 to bring down the cost.

PikaBot also includes an ultrasonic distance sensor so it can detect obstacles in front of it.

    The Typical Problem Faced by Beginners in Learning Electronics on Raspberry Pi 

    Raspberry Pi aims to bring the power of computing and digital making to the masses. It is being used by many educators, makers, and also engineers. Yet, if you are a newbie learning electronics, you might face some of these constraints:
    • Hard to get started without additional devices (monitor, keyboard, and mouse). Beginners will either need to use additional devices or follow many steps just to get started. This may confuse them. For techies that want to know why, this is because it lacks an onboard USB to UART communication for your computer to get the IP address for SSH (headless), or to kick start configuration directly.
    • Hard to get started with electronics. It doesn't come with any inputs or outputs, you will need to connect additional accessories to use it. Most beginners do not have basic knowledge of electronics. They will have a problem to understand the circuit diagram and connections needed when they first started learning. They will spend a substantial amount of time just to connect the wires and troubleshoot the connections.
    • Hard to troubleshoot the GPIO. With just the raspberry pi, beginners face a common problem when learning electronics- difficulty in troubleshooting their circuit. This is because when it doesn't work, we do not know whether the problem is due to wire connection or coding.
    • Access to GPIO is kind of difficult. There is no label on the pins, you need to search online to get the designated pin and know which pin to connect. For beginners, this definitely will make it harder for them to make the connection correctly. 
    • No easy way to properly shutdown using a switch. There is no programmable push button to enable proper shutdown through hardware. If the beginner turns off the power without properly shutting it down, the raspberry pi may not work the next time.

    Maker pHAT is designed to be the same size as Raspberry Pi Zero board, it stacks perfectly on top of Rpi Zero with the four mounting holes aligned. (What is a HAT? Read this to know more) We do advise getting Raspberry Pi Zero WH (pre-solder header pin) for beginner because it is not an easy work to solder the 40-pin GPIO, don't forget you'll need to have the soldering tools too.

    Powering the Maker Pi 2040

    There are three ways to supply power to the Maker Pi RP2040 - via USB (5V) socket, with a single cell LiPo/Li-Ion battery or through the VIN (3.6-6V) terminals. However only one power source is needed to power up both controller board and motors at a time. Power supply from all these power sources can all be controlled with the power on/off switch onboard.




    Maker Pi RP2040 features all the goodness of Cytron's Maker series products. It too has lots of LEDs useful for troubleshooting (& visual effects), is able to make quite some noise with the onboard piezo buzzer and comes with push buttons ready to detect your touch.

    Maker Drive: Simplifying H-Bridge Motor Driver for Beginner (maker drive h-bridge)

    Brushed motor is the most widely used motor because it is easy to use. Just supply the two terminals with DC power, the motor will start rotating! If you want to control its speed and direction using a controller, usually you will use an L298N Motor Driver. But if you want an easy and beginner-friendly motor driver, you are on the right page! Maker Drive is designed for simplicity and with the beginner in mind!

    Aluminum 2WD TT Robot/Motor Chassis - Purple (aluminum robot chassis purple)

    Description:

    This Aluminum Chassis in Blinka purple makes for an excellent robot body. It's a single piece of bent 2mm thick aluminum, with a variety of holes, slots and cutouts for mounting boards, sensors, and servos. The sides are notched to fit two DC Gear 'TT' motors perfectly - There are four M3 and nuts are included for mounting the motors. In the front you can screw on a ball caster. You can build a very sturdy (and quite handsome!) little robot rover with this metal frame.

    Maker Reflect: Simplifying IR Reflectance Sensor for Beginner (maker reflect)
    Description

    Maker Reflect is a tiny reflectance sensor that consists of an infrared (IR) LED that transmits IR light onto a surface and a phototransistor measures how much light is reflected back. The output is in analog voltage - The more IR light is sensed by the phototransistor, the lower the voltage.



    Typically this sensor is used in line following robot as the white surfaces reflect more IR than black surfaces. However, it is not limited to line follower, there are much more application which can utilize the Maker Reflect. Eg.: Edge/Border sensor in Sumo robot, wall sensor in maze solving robot, short-distance object detector (presence sensor), a sensor for rotary wheel encoder...etc.



    Measuring only (L)18.1mm x (W)8.4mm x (H)4.2mm (Exclude the header pin), this tiny sensor can be easily fitted in the tightest space available on your robot. We purposely designed the sensor so that the mounting hole is at the center so that the sensor can be at the front-most position. This is especially important in the Sumo robot.

    Grove Maker Soil Moisture Sensor (Capacitive) (maker soil moisture)

    Description:


    Maker Soil Moisture Sensor measures soil moisture by capacitive sensing, where the presence of water in the soil will increase the probe capacitance. The output of the sensor is analog output; higher moisture levels will produce lower output voltage. Being part of the Maker Seriesthe sensor is equipped with many features to further simplify digital making for beginners and experts alike.



    The Maker Soil Moisture Sensor is easy to use. It only needs a power supply, if the LED indicators alone are enough for your application. Make sure that the voltage level of the power supply is within the sensor specifications. Note that the LED indicators only indicate approximate moisture levels and might fluctuate depending on the power supply, since the sensor does not have a voltage regulator on board.

    Maker Soil Moisture Sensor can also be used with microcontrollers to build more complex projects like smart gardens and self-watering systems. The analog output voltage of the sensor is used for these applications. Furthermore, the sensor also has a disable pin for power saving applications. Sending HIGH signal to the disable pin will disable the sensor.

    It is important to note that this sensor can only qualitatively test the humidity of the soil and cannot measure quantitatively. Which means when the humidity of the soil rises, the value of the output decreases; conversely, when the humidity decreases, the output value becomes higher.
