Fitting Instructions



1 Insert Raspberry Pi 4 unit into the lower half (base) of the case, taking care to first remove any SD card, and to align the connectors with the apertures in the base.

2 Insert the case fan into the upper half (lid) of the case, with the fan pointing away from the lid. The two tabs on the fan housing should fit neatly into the inside of the tabs on the lids, and the slightly curved edge of the housing should be flush with the underside of the lid.

3 If you are also fitting the heatsink, remove the backing paper from the selfadhesive pad on the base of the heatsink, position it centrally over the processor and gently press it in position.

4 Connect the wires from the fan to the Raspberry Pi 4 40-pin GPIO header as follows:

5 Assemble the case.

Using your fan

Once you have connected your fan, by default it will be on whenever your Raspberry Pi is running. You can configure it to turn on only when your Raspberry Pi reaches a temperature that you choose.

Using a recent version of Raspberry Pi OS, first update to retrieve any recent changes to the operating system:

  1. Open the Terminal, either from the Start menu (click the Raspberry Pi icon in the top left corner) or by pressing Control Alt T.
  2. Type sudo apt update and then, when the update has finished, type sudo apt full-upgrade.

Then open the Raspberry Pi Configuration tool:

  1. Click on the Raspberry Pi icon in the top left corner and select Preferences then Raspberry Pi Configuration.
  2. Select the Performance tab.
  3. Next to Fan, click Enabled.
  4. If you have connected your fan as shown above, the default of 14 for Fan GPIO does not need to be changed.
  5. Select the Fan Temperature at which you want your fan to turn on. The default is 80°C, which will stop the Raspberry Pi throttling on difficult tasks without having the fan on all the time.

Raspberry Pi Dual-Band 5GHz/2.4GHZ USB WiFi Adapter with Antenna (2.4 and 5ghz antenna wifi)

Description

This product no longer works with the provided driver/instructions due to a kernel change in Raspberry Pi OS. You can download an older version of Raspberry Pi OS which works with the provided driver, however you won't be able to update that image. We are working on finding a new driver.


If the on-board WiFi antenna on your Raspberry Pi isn't giving you enough range, this dual-band 2.4GHz/5GHz USB 2.0 WiFi adapter is a great option.

The antenna is dual-band meaning it can connect to a 2.4GHz or 5GHz network, and supports the 802.11ac standard (3 times faster than 802.11n networks).

Note: Currently only works with the Raspberry Pi 4 (we're working on finding a driver for older versions!)

The USB 2.0 adapter features an LED status light and removable antenna.

What's new!?

The cabinet is more compact, so it fits more neatly on your desk, but has a higher resolution 8"  or 10" display (1024x768). The display is driven by a new Pimoroni-designed and manufactured driver board, with keypad controls. It's an IPS panel, so it looks great from any viewing angle!

The all-new Picade X HAT is packed full of useful features. We've moved from more fiddly screw terminals to simple DuPont connectors that just push in, and the speaker terminals are the same easy push-fit connectors that we use on pHAT BEAT.

There's dedicated power management on-board Picade X HAT; just plug your micro-USB power supply into the HAT and it'll power your Pi through its pins. The power button connected to the HAT means that once your Pi is safely shutdown, the power will be cut completely to the Pi. A simple press of the power button will boot your Picade up again.

The new buttons in Picade are lower profile, and the new joystick has a single connector rather than the eight spade connectors on our previous Picade joystick.

Building your Picade

Software setup

We recommend the RetroPie operating system for your Picade. You can download it from the RetroPie website and then burn it to a micro-SD card with Etcher.

Connect a USB keyboard to your Pi, and connect to Wi-Fi in the RetroPie menu. Press F4 to exit to the terminal and then type curl https://get.pimoroni.com/picadehat | bash to run the Picade HAT installer.

Reboot your Pi, if it doesn't prompt you to. Press the "Alt" key on your keyboard and then select "Configure input" to configure your Picade's controls. You'll find that the sound and power button should both be working now too!

Notes

If your Picade display doesn't show anything when you first power it up, then it could be because the HDMI display is not being detected by the Raspberry Pi. This can happen because power isn't supplied to the USB ports on the Raspberry Pi for the first few seconds of booting. The solution is to edit the /boot/config.txt file on your RetroPie SD card, and add hdmi_force_hotplug=1 on a new line at the bottom of the file.

Description

RAPID, TOOL-FREE ASSEMBLY

The HighPi case sets the standard for ease of use and versatility in Raspberry Pi cases. Installing or removing the Raspberry Pi PI3B board is astonishingly quick, simple, and secure; all without tools or assembly. One snap action locks the Pi board into the case; the second secures the lid, rattle free. Remove the Pi board and the lid with one-finger-releases for each. Genius! Customers assembling large volumes of Pi boards in cases love how much time and effort this case saves them.

The HighPi case can be wall mounted horizontally with two screws for easy removal, or mounted in any orientation including upside-down with four screws from inside the case. FITS ALL KINDS OF HATS

Whether you’re running a plain Pi4 board or modding it to the max, the HighPi case has your Pi covered. The generous internal room allows HATs, break-out boards, or heat sinks. Vents on three sides double as fly-through cable ports for the GPIO and whatever else you need to connect to. A two-section break-out allows you to choose how much of the A/V side of the case to open up for connectors on attached boards. Here are just a few examples of the HATs that fit perfectly in the HighPi.

RASPBERRY PI POE HAT
The HighPi case holds the PoE HAT perfectly, fully securing both the Pi and HAT boards. Many competing cases cannot secure the Pi board to the case once a HAT is added to it. The side and bottom ventilation slots allow the fan to move air in and out of the case.
HIFIBERRY HATS
This case perfectly accommodates the full line of HiFiBerry audio boards. Use one break-out section for DAC and Digi , and both for the Amp or DAC DSP. There is generous clearance around the RCA connectors for bulky, high-end cables.
SERIAL HAT
Do you need to ensure power to your Pi or communicate via serial? Our serial HAT can be enclosed tidily along with the Pi board.
UPS HAT
The UPS HAT and Pi board are both enclosed easily in the HighPi case, with significant space for larger batteries. The GPIO connector pins remain accessible, and a GPIO ribbon cable can be run out of the case while fully assembled.

Description

This is our very own modular Raspberry Pi 4 injection moulded case - a fully customisable and adaptable modular unit aimed to suit a range of Raspberry Pi applications.

Modular Design

The case is compatible with a range of customisable modular features allowing enhanced security, functionality and compatibility with additional hardware such as HATs. These include mounting points for a 5V GPIO fan, stackable 10mm spacer layers, micro-SD card covers and VESA adaptors.

All Ports Available

All of the Raspberry Pi's ports are available, and the light pipes ensure you can keep an eye on the LED activity light from outside of the case.

The case also includes dedicated slots below the lid for GPIO, CSI and DSI cables, and even features a clever SD card holder inside the case! 

Fan Cooling Option

The lid features a fan mounting section to mount one of our 5V GPIO fans. Simply fit the fan to the lid using the screws included in our fan kits and plug the fan into the GPIO header (red = 5V, black = GND).

Even with a fan fitted, the case can still fit one of our XL heatsinks or our heatsink sets.

Stack high!

Optional spacer layers (available separately) are designed to be stacked up to 5 spacers high, so that your case can grow with your project (additional screws are required for more than 1 spacer, which are also available separately).

Please note: Due to the lid's fan mounting points, spacers will be required to fit most HATs.

Large rubber feet are also included with the case to ensure your project is sturdy and rattle-free.
