DHT11 Temperature and Relative Humidity Sensor Module (DHT11 temp/humid)

DHT11 is the most common sensor that is usually used by students and makers out there. The main function of this sensor is to measure the temperature and humidity of the surroundings. The sensor is also factory calibrated and hence easy to interface with any microcontrollers like Arduino. The sensor can measure temperature from 0°C to 50°C and humidity from 20% to 90% with an accuracy of ±1°C and ±1%. So if you are looking to measure in this range then this sensor might be the right choice for you!

The DHT11 sensor can either be purchased as a sensor or as a module. Either way, the performance of the sensor is the same. The sensor will come as a 4-pin package out of which only three pins will be used whereas the module will come with three pins as shown below. The only difference between the sensor and module is that the module will have a filtering capacitor and pull-up resistor inbuilt so that you can just simply connect wires and start your project!

Switched Battery Box 4xAA (6V) (switch batt box 4xAA)

This battery box is designed for use as a nice switchable, portable power pack, and fits any four alkaline or rechargeable AA batteries in series. The body is moulded in black ABS Resin and has a slide on detachable lid which can be locked for extra security through use of a small provided screw. It even includes a very useful miniature on-off slide switch which is very handy for wiring to projects that don't have a switch! Connection is via two flexible stranded red (positive) & black (negative) 26AWG wire leads, which are approximately 150mm in length.

The four batteries are held in series, for a nominal output of 6V DC (6.4V when fresh, 4V when dead), and 4.8V DC for rechargeables (5.2V when fully charged, 4.4V when discharged). Using rechargeables will make this work nicely with nearly any 5V project, with alkalines you may want to put a 1N4001 in series to drop the voltage from 6V down to 5.3V.

4 Channels ADS1115 ADC Module (4Ch ADS1115 ADC)
For microcontrollers without an analog-to-digital converter or when you want a higher-precision ADC, the ADS1115 provides 16-bit 12-bit precision (from our testing, Arduino library can only give a 12-bit reading) at 860 samples/second over I2C interface/protocol. The chip can be configured as 4 single-ended input channels or two differential channels. As a nice bonus, it even includes a programmable gain amplifier, up to x16, to help boost up smaller single/differential signals to the full range. We like this ADC because it can run from 2V to 5V power/logic, can measure a large range of signals, and is super easy to use. It is a great general-purpose 16-bit converter. Most likely you will use this module with Raspberry Pi because the Pi does not come with an ADC input pin.



The chip's fairly small so it comes on a breakout board with ferrites to keep the AVDD and AGND quiet. Interfacing is done via I2C. The address can be changed to one of four options (see the datasheet table 5) so you can have up to 4 ADS1115's connected on a single 2-wire I2C bus for 16 single-ended inputs. For example, your Raspberry Pi can read voltage from load cell:



To get you started, here is example code for both the Raspberry Pi (in Adafruit Pi Python library), Arduino (in ADS1X15 Arduino library repository) and CircuitPython. Simply connect GND to ground, VDD to your logic power supply, and SCL/SDA to your microcontroller's I2C port and run the example code to start reading data.
