Raspberry Pi Compute Module I/O Dev Board (Compute 3 DEV board)

The Compute Module 3 I/O Development Board (CMIO V3) is suitable for the development of Compute Module 3 or Compute Module 3 Lite. The IO Board features an SD card socket to support the Compute Module Lite 3 variant and breaks out the compute modules I/O's to various ports and 120 x standard pitch 0.1" headers.

To start the development, plug the Compute Module 3 or Compute Module 3 Lite into the IO Board, and power the development board using a micro USB 5V 2.5A Raspberry Pi Power Supply. The development board contains all of the necessary interface ports to allow an engineer to design and test their own prototype application. The modules simplify the design process engineers need to undertake when developing a System on Module (SoM) solution into their final product. Engineers do not need to concern themselves with the complexities of interfacing with the BCM2837 processer directly and instead can concentrate on designing the interfaces to their own IO board and their application software . This simplicity fosters rapid development.

Please Note, this is the IO Board only, compute module is not included.

Raspberry Pi 3 - Model B (Pi3 model B)


The stunning new Raspberry Pi 3 Model B has landed.! This third generation model maintains the same popular board format as the Raspberry Pi 2 and Raspberry Pi B+, but boasts a faster 1.2GHz 64Bit SoC, and on board WiFi and Bluetooth!

We only stock UK made Raspberry Pi's manufactured in Sony's Pencoed factory in South Wales.

Back-Compatibility note: The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B has the same footprint and layout as the previous Model 2/B+ version, so will fit all Model 2/B+ items. However, the addition of a WiFi & Bluetooth Antenna has resulted in the ACT and PWR LEDs being moved to the opposite side of the SD card slot. Cases for the 2/B+ with LED light pipes will fit the new RPi 3, but the light pipes will not match up with the LEDs.

Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3 (Compute 3)

The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3 (CM3) is a DDR2-SODIMM-mechanically-compatible System on Module (SoMs) containing the same processor, memory, and supporting power circuitry as the Raspberry Pi 3.

These modules allow designers to leverage the Raspberry Pi hardware and software stack in their own custom systems and form factors. In addition the modules have extra IO interfaces over and above what is available on the Raspberry Pi boards, providing more options for the designer. The Raspberry Compute Modules 3 are suitable for designers who are happy with Raspberry Pi 3 functionality but require a smaller form factor (67.6 mm x 31 mm) for their embedded designs.

Flash memory is connected directly to the processor on the board, but the remaining processor interfaces are available to the user via the connector pins. You get the full flexibility of the BCM2837 SoC (which means that many more GPIOs and interfaces are available as compared to the Raspberry Pi), and designing the Module into a custom system should be relatively straightforward as all the tricky bits are pre-built into the module.

The Compute Module 3 Lite contains the following components contained within a 200 pin SODIMM design:

  • Broadcom BCM2837 Processor (1.2GHz)
  • 1GB LPDDR2 RAM
  • 35u Hard Gold Plated IO Pins
  • DDR2-SODIMM, Mechanically-Compatible System on Modules (SoMs)
  • 4 GB eMMC Flash memory. Also these modules have extra input/output (I/O) interfaces in addition to the Raspberry Pi model A/B boards.
  • 67.6mm x 31mm Board
