What is MegaPi?

MegaPi—Born to Motion Control

MegaPi is a microcontroller board based on ATmega2560. With abundant motor driver interfaces, it can control and combine different kinds of motors rapidly, drive 10 servos and 8 DC motors/ 4 stepper motors simultaneously and have a maximum output current of 10A.

MegaPi can be programmed with Arduino software (IDE) or graphical programming language. It is even better that MegaPi works perfectly with Raspberry Pi, by which makers will be able to drive motors and sensors with Python!

With strong motor-driving ability and ease of use, MegaPi is an ideal option for 3D printer, CNC, robotic project etc.

How to Use MegaPi?

Take it easy! It is quite easy-to-use though with great capabilities. If you are a fan of Arduino or Raspberry Pi, we believe that controlling Mega Pi will be a piece of cake to you, since you must know Arduino IDE or Python programming very well. (Controlling MegaPi through Python programming requires a Raspberry Pi, and you have to weld their communication interfaces together.)

Graphical Programming

We also prepare graphical programming for the beginner of Maker, making creating robot very easy. We even add the control program of MegaPi into our App, which enables you to control MegaPi with iPad! As congeneric products, MegaPi also need to control motor by motor driver. However, the driver interfaces of MegaPi are encapsulated and anti-reverse, so that you can insert or pull out driver module conveniently.

Megapi Encoder/DC Motor Driver (Megapi dc motor driver)


This encoder motor is capable of driving two DC motors or one encoder motor. It has 16 pins, allowing you to connect with MegaPi by simply plugging in. The motor driver IC on the board is TB6612, which is a high efficiency MOSFET driver with low heat dissipation. Overcurrent protection included to prevent the driver IC from burning out.

TEC1-12706 40x40mm Thermoelectric Cooler Peltier Plate 12V 60W (Peltier plate)

Description: Thermoelectric coolers (TEC or Peltier) create a temperature differential on each side. One side gets hot and the other side gets cool. Therefore, they can be used to either warm something up or cool something down, depending on which side you use. You can also take advantage of a temperature differential to generate electricity.

This Peltier works very well as long as you remove the heat from the hot side. After turning on the device, the hot side will heat quickly, the cold side will cool quickly. If you do not remove the heat from the hot side (with a heat sink or other device), the Peltier will quickly reach stasis and do nothing. We recommend using an old computer CPU heatsink or other block of metal to pull heat from the hot side. We were able to use a computer power supply and CPU heatsink to make the cold side so uncomfortably cold we could not hold our finger to it.

Note: It is imperative that a heat sink is used on the hot side of the module. Running the module without one can cause damage to this part. If it’s too hot to comfortably touch, you’re in the danger zone!

How to format a 64GB SD card for Raspberry Pi

PiTFT Mini - 320 x 240 2.8" TFT Capacitive Touchscreen (1B3 ada 2.8 touch 26pin)

Adafruit's best-selling PiTFT just got a fancy upgrade, now we have a version with a capacitive touchscreen! That's right, instead of a resistive touchscreen, which requires a fingernail or stylus, you can now use a fingerpad. The screen looks much nicer, with a black bezel and glass overlay.

Featuring a 2.8" display with 320x240 16-bit color pixels and a single-touch capacitive touch overlay. The plate uses the high speed SPI interface on the Pi and can use the mini display as a console, X window port, displaying images or video etc. Best of all it plugs right in on top!

It's designed to fit nicely onto the Pi Model A or B rev 2 but also works perfectly fine with the Model B+ as long as you don't mind the PCB overhangs the USB ports by 5mm, see the photos above. Model B rev 1 have an older layout for the I2C pins and won't be able to use the touch screen

Uses the hardware I2C Pins (SDA & SCL), SPI pins (SCK, MOSI, MISO, CE0) as well as GPIO #25 and #24. All other GPIO are unused and you can still share the I2C pins with sensors, LED drivers, etc. Since we had a tiny bit of space, there's 4 spots for optional slim tactile switches wired to four GPIOs, that you can use if you want to make a basic user interface. For example, you can use one as a power on/off button. See below for the link to get the optional tact switches, they're not included.

The screen is the same size as the resistive type so you can use this with the PiTFT PiBow or any other enclosure you may already have. We also use the same SDL device and signals so PyGame and X11 based programs can be swapped in with no changes in code.

This version comes as a mini-kit, with a 2x13 extra-tall female header (to connect the plate to the Pi) and a 2x13 male header that can be used to connect an IDC cable or cobbler from the side. The photos above also show the optional installed slim tactile buttons. The tactile buttons are not included. Some basic soldering is required to install the headers. You can also pick up an extra-long Pi stacking header if you want to install that instead of the 2x13 female header installed.

Picade Console - Raspberry Pi Arcade Controls (3A2 picade console)

Total build time is around one hour and full instructions are available online. The only tools you'll need are a cross-head (pozi) screwdriver and a small flat-head for the Picade PCB screw terminals.

Please note: Raspberry Pi is not included. Picade is compatible with Raspberry 2,3, B+, and A+ - we recommend Raspberry Pi 3 since it's a lot more powerful! You'll also need a good 2.5A power supply.
