This economical sensor provides 2cm to 400cm of non-contact measurement functionality with a ranging accuracy that can reach up to 3mm. Each HC-SR04 module includes an ultrasonic transmitter, a receiver and a control circuit.
There are only four pins that you need to worry about on the HC-SR04: VCC (Power), Trig (Trigger), Echo (Receive), and GND (Ground). You will find this sensor very easy to set up and use for your next range-finding project!

1 x HC-SR04 distance sensor
This waterproof ultrasonic distance sensor is for those applications that are a bit more rugged! 25cm - 450cm sensing range.
We have used the HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Distance Sensor many times and for many good reasons. It is pretty easy to use, it performs well, and it is very inexpensive. For collision avoidance robots or intruder detection, this sensor is usually all you’ll need.
However, using the HC-SR04 outside is a different story. It is a pretty fragile device and can easily be damaged by dirt, or even high winds. And, above all, it is not waterproof.
For these circumstances you can use this sensor, in more weathered states, even outdoors

Basic working principle:
(1) using IO port TRIG trigger location, to the high level signal of at least 10us;
(2) module automatically sends 8 40KHz pulse, automatic detecting whether a signal returns;
(3) on signal return, a high level is output through the IO port ECHO, the time duration of the high level is ultrasonic from launch to return. The test distance = (high level time * speed of sound (340M/S)) /2;

This Grove-ultrasonic sensor is a non-contact distance measurement module which is compatible with the Grove system. It's designed for easy modular project usage with industrial performance. It can measure from 3cm to 350cm with the accuracy up to 2mm. It is a perfect ultrasonic module for distance measurement, proximity sensors, and ultrasonic detector.
Compared with traditional ultrasonic modules HC-SR04, this module integrates a single-chip microcomputer, and the transmitting signal and the receiving signal share one pin by time division multiplexing, so only one I/O pin is occupied. Another difference is that HC-SR04 only supports 5V voltage, while this module supports 5V and 3.3V. As we know, the Raspberry pi I/O only supports 3.3V. Therefore, this Grove - Ultrasonic Distance Sensor can be directly connected to the I/O of the Raspberry Pi, but HC-SR04 needs to use a voltage conversion circuit.

Ultrasonic Range finder has been very useful in many electronic project. It is low cost and teaches us the propagation of sound wave, learning about science while completing your project:) While it is popular, HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor is 5V operated, so it is difficult to be used with 3.3V system like NodeMCU, Wemos, Raspberry pi, micro:bit or 3.3V Arduino board. No more waiting, we bring you the 3.0V to 5.5V Ultrasonic Ranging Module.
Using your echo-location abilities to detect tasty fish treats. Until genetic modifications catches up with our desires, we'll just have to make do with these handy 3V Ultrasonic Sonar Distance Sensor and a pair of flippers. These ubiquitous sensors are really common in robotics projects, but they can also be used for automation, interactive art and motion sensing. They work at about 2cm to 450cm(5V) or 400cm(3V) away, but we think 10cm-250cm will get you the best results.

These sensors are fast, fairly easy to use, and low cost. Unlike the more common HC-SR04 series, this model can be powered by 3V or 5V and the logic level will be the same. This makes this model great for use with just about any microcontroller or microcomputer. And, its HC-SR04 software compatible so just plug it in and it works the same! (Note the size is different from the HC-SR04 so you may need to make mounting adjustments)
