The SparkFun Qwiic Single Relay lets your microcontroller switch high-power loads of up to 5.5A at 240VAC using simple I2C commands. It is a handy way to control things like motors, pumps, solenoids and batteries from a low-voltage project.

Qwiic connectors handle the I2C side and screw terminals take the load wiring, so no soldering is needed. The default I2C address is 0x18; you can change it in software, or close a solder jumper on the back to set it to 0x19. To run several relays that share an address, use an I2C multiplexer, and for larger setups an external power supply is recommended.

The board is designed with safety in mind, with a wider isolation gap between the high- and low-voltage sides, an air gap around the common pin, and doubled-up traces on the NC, NO and COM terminals. Mains voltage can be dangerous, so take care when working with 110/220VAC.
