The SparkFun Transceiver Breakout - MAX3232 bridges the gap between modern low-voltage microcontrollers and classic RS232 serial equipment. It converts the TTL-level UART signals from a 3.3V or 5V board into true RS232 voltage levels, and back again.
The MAX3232 runs from as little as 3V, so it works with 3.3V boards such as ESP32, Raspberry Pi Pico and Teensy, while also playing nicely with 5V Arduino-style boards.
All the pins you need are broken out to a 0.1" header footprint, and the four 0.1uF charge pump capacitors are already fitted to the board, so there are no extra parts to add. Just solder on headers and wire it up to your serial device.
